Throw in &#8220;functional&#8221;, &#8220;biodegradable&#8221; and assembly lines that &#8220;reinforce values of integration and respect&#8221; and you have a recipe for an object destined to appeal to today&#8217;s guilt-ridden, penny-pinching yet acquisitive and aesthetically minded consumer.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Century Gothic;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sanserif.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/theeconomist-17-5-2011.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2888\" title=\"TheEconomist 17-5-2011\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sanserif.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/theeconomist-17-5-2011.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"460\" height=\"295\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sanserif.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/theeconomist-17-5-2011.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.sanserif.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/theeconomist-17-5-2011-300x193.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 460px) 100vw, 460px\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff; font-size: x-small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Century Gothic;\">The Economist \u00b7 18\/05\/2011<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Century Gothic;\">So it was with some eagerness that I <a href=\"http:\/\/www.economist.com\/blogs\/prospero\/2011\/05\/contemporary_design\">clicked on the image<\/a> attachment of an e-mail press release for the Bold cHair by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sanserif.es\">Sanserif Creatius<\/a>, a small design firm based in Valencia, Spain. Created entirely of biodegradable corrugated cardboard (without screws and wedges) in &#8220;special employment centres&#8221; where labourers surely whistle while they work, the chair sounded so promising.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: x-small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Century Gothic;\">But tell me, dear reader, what do you make of this? I&#8217;m all for a bit of insouciance with a greenwash, but would it go with the rug?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The buzzwords in design these days are &#8220;economic&#8221; and &#8220;ecological&#8221;.
